Today's the last day of 2012 and all I can say to it is, "HASTA LA VISTA, baby!" I am EXCITED about the Holy Ghost party tonight and have great expectations of 2013; not only what it will give to me but also for what I can give to it. This is a very reflective time when we A-type personalities are making our extensive TO-DO- LISTS. For the new year I've decided not to make a list; not to promise myself that I'm going to do a-b &-c by x-y &- z. I've decided not to say a whole lot of things but rather to simply be found faithful following (Matt 6:33): "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." May I offer a last piece of advice for your peace of mind? "Ditch the list and pick up the command for therein lies your every desired success." Happy New Year!
We all know a Negative Nancy. She fills her tongue with complaints, not praises. She counts her burdens, not blessings. She discourages herself from the race before she ever even trains for it. She gets on others but not hardly as hard as she gets on herself. She gets on your doggone nerves most of all.
Negative Nancy needs no judgement or backlash though. She needs a dose of self-esteem topped with self-love and a helping of prayer. Give her that and keep it moving! In this season of your life, little time can be allocated to negative people! Negative Nancy needs many things. YOU need to allow her to seek those things and supply YOURSELF with the good in life. Complete your circle with people who enable themselves, who uplift themselves and who uplift YOU in action and speech! Learn your assignment and follow that. It's time to discern the difference between what's YOUR problem and what is someone else's.
1) "Aaa-chewwwww!" That was the sound of my sneeze!
2) "I feel like praisin', praisin' Him. I feeeeel like praisin', praisin' Him! Praise him in the morning, praise Him all day long. I feel like praisin', praisin' Him." Now THAT was the sound of my song!
Tissue, Robitussin, Advil, throat spray and cups of hot tea containing honey and 4 Halls cough drops have been my constant companions all week. This cold has really tried to get me; has tried to DISTRACT me from my verbalized intention of "finishing the year strong" but I declare that I shall not be defeated! Lol!
I woke up this morning feeling as though I've turned the curve and I feel led to remind all the Martha's today to "Relax, Relate & Release!" That thing, like my cold, is just a distraction honey. Don't trip... it will be OK. Get done what you can & let the rest go. Just let it go & seek the most excellent thing, which is to sit at His feet. It's amazing that in our quest to meet our own self-inflicted goals, we sometimes major in the minor while God is really not impressed one way or the other. Push past the distractions and ask Daddy-God what He really needs from you this 3rd day before Christmas. Is it more shopping for just the right gift? Is it more baking of that last little mouthwatering sweet? Is it more cleaning so that everything shines just so for the house guests that you really wish wouldn't come? Or could it be more time spent with Him so that all else gets into proper perspective? Selah.
"Put 'em up, put 'em up! I'll fight ya' both together if you want. I'll fight ya' with one paw tied behind my back. I'll fight ya' standin' on one foot. I'll fight ya' with my eyes closed." -The Lion
Most are pretty familiar with how cowardly the lion from the Wizard of Oz was. The lion for reasons unknown was afraid of just about everything he faced in his life, blindly thinking the Wizard had the power to give him COURAGE. Not so. What I conclude is that he was so distracted by looking OUTWARD that he neglected to look INWARD and... trust what was already built in.
Here we have this lion that was not a turtle with a shell in which to hide but THE KING OF THE JUNGLE! He was called not only to roar the loudest, but to rule and conquer, yet he is afraid to take his rightful place. He got tired of existing off purpose; tired of being afraid so he set off on a long and tedious journey in hopes of receiving what he already possessed. Arriving in the Land of Oz he opened his mouth and asked for courage, but he asked the wrong source. How disappointed he was to discover that the power he had believed in was no power at all but a farce, a fake, a phony. Thankfully the little man, who was not a Wizard at all, shared a basic truth with the lion: "You are under the unfortunate delusion that simply because you run away from danger you have no courage. You're confusing courage with wisdom." Can I share some basic truths with you today?
(Matthew 7:7) gives us BASIC INSTRUCTION for using the courage within: "ASKKKKKK, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
(I Cor 2: 9) gives us SPECIFICITY on having the courage to not just ask, but daring to ask BIG: But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Find your faith, trust in the right source and work your courage while it is day!
... for "While they were saying among themselves it cannot be done, it was done (H. Keller)." No handicap, limitation, lack of education or resource, witch or warlock can stop the Spirit of God from hovering over your life and commanding the divine exchange of FORM for void and LIGHT rather than darkness.
Balak wanted Balaam to curse the people and had the utter audacity to get angry when he heard blessing instead: “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it (Num 23)." Balak failed to realize that the GOD we serve has a way of steamrolling right over so-called "problems" and will use anything and anybody in order to bring about His sovereign will concerning you. Our response is to believe that His strength really is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor 12:9) and then marvel, giving Him the glory, when He confounds both the enemy within AND the enemy without.
Last night the BuildUP! Prison Ministry Team wrapped up another awesome year of service with our annual Christmas Celebration to remind a gymnasium full of ladies that JESUS is the reason for the season! With the belief and support of Hunter Hill Cafe, Walmart, Target, The Cheesecake Factory, Sara Lee and Sheryl Brady Ministries, we put not a ring, but a bow on the Celebration for Jesus! We allowed the anointed festivities to remind them that God has not forgotten them that their every confessed sin is forgiven and their true repentance is received for the blood still washes.
When asked by the RIGHTEOUS, "Lord when did we come to You in the prison?" Jesus answers without reservation, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me (Matt 25:35-46).” So many people care absolutely NOTHING for people who are incarcerated. Truthfully they see all incarcerated people as the dregs of society not worthy of anything. They give no consideration of what MIGHT have been the incarceration precursors such as environmental shaping, childhood tragedy, mental illness, or even generational curses. They cannot see past their personal "conviction" that if the courts found them guilty and locked them up they must be guilty. Many have deemed incarcerated persons not deserving to ever reenter society. I am aware that there are millions who are indeed guilty and should be serving their time. I am aware that many will never change even if they are given a second chance. I am also aware that statistically "More than 2,000 people have been exonerated of serious crimes since 1989 in the United States, according to a report by college researchers who have established the first national registry of exonerations." I'm also aware that I've watched that Holy Spirit usher in salvation/deliverance in the prison system for 16 consecutive years.
We understand that there are far more guilty than innocent however, we don't have a hell or a heaven to put prisoners in... that's an assignment for God. All we know is that JESUS SAID... "Somebody needs to go see about them." Since He has chosen and "anointed us to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound(Isa 61:1)" we respond to our monthly mandate to call them forth out of the caves and teach them HOW TO dig their way out of the dungeons.
Thankfully there are those who understand that everybody's not looking for a hand out ... some just need a hand UP in life. Thankfully there are those who never forget that quicker than you can blink - if not for the grace of God through Jesus Christ - a person could easily find themselves exchanging that expensive Sunday go-to-meeting church suit for state issued scrubs that ain't nowhere near new! Thankfully there are some who realize that just one wrong alphabet or social security number miscalculated can cause that Pandora bracelet to be replaced by a shiny pair of silver bracelets that I promise... cannot be traced to Jared's!
"Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la." And that it is however while out enjoying family/friends and getting your shop on, please REMEMBER TO BE CAREFUL! 1) Just this weekend I passed two extremely nasty accidents involving cars, vans, a motorcycle and lots of emergency assistance vehicles. 2) Ladies, ladies, ladies... WATCH THOSE HANDBAGS! I can't count how many purses I've already seen in the cart while the lady is "browsing." 3) Most importantly of all... PLEASE KEEP SMALL CHILDREN CLOSER THAN CLOSE! I've been observing children as young as 1-2 years old just walking around... looking at this and at that. We already know that pedifiles are real and in every neighborhood so while we're trying to get just the right gift to give, let's not give the enemy room to devour the precious babies! (I Peter 5:8) All of God's Blessns to you as you continue with your joyful festivities - SAFELY.
